JOY Project

Infrastructure

Situated for Success in North-Central BC with Key Regional Infrastructure in Place

The JOY District is accessible from the City of Prince George via highways and resource roads that service Centerra’s Kemess deposits and the historical Kemess South, Lawyers, Baker and Shasta mines. An existing 380 km long, 230 kV electrical transmission line parallels the resource road, and connects to the formerly-producing 50,000 t/d Kemess South mine site. Centerra’s current plans for the Kemess North underground mine call for a mill-size of ~24,600 t/d, utilizing roughly half the powerline capacity. The unused portion of the transmission line capacity may be available for other projects in the region.
